For me, immersion is important for a good board game; one reason I'm not that into abstract games. Theme can be expressed through art but I feel mechanics can make or break it. I've been working on a game where each player is a rival seer directing the future towards their specific goals. One iteration used tokens on an event map but this didn't have the same divination aesthetic as a spread of tarot like cards.
i gotta recommend my favourite tarot set: Star Spinner Tarot by Trungles. Instead of the traditional rider-waite imagery, it uses myth and fairytale inspired symbolism. It's comes with 4 Lovers cards to encompass all forms of love and the guidebook helps every reading land with IMPACT. https://www.trungles.com/star-spinner-tarot
Anamnesis https://blinkingbirchgames.itch.io/anamnesis is another tarot solo rpg with very different mechanics.
I checked that one out while doing some background research on this one. Very cool game!
Anna Anthropy’s Princess with a Cursed Sword is another classic tarot card journaling game. https://w.itch.io/cursed-sword
That's a new one to me! I'll check it out! Thank you!
She also uses an interesting action resolution mechanism using 2 coins. I think it adds a lot of flavor to the game.

Sounds like another perfect example!
